Fool - Eletto

By Libby Driscoll

Following the release of their debut single Northern Sun, South Yorkshire duo Eletto release their ode to hopeless romance and bad boys, Fool.

Fool - Eletto

Formed in 2020, best friends Mila Whitaker and Zoe Aradipioti make up to glossy folk duo. With plans to release their debut EP this year, Eletto release their latest single Fool in the run up.

Fool is a delightful flow of losing yourself in the hopelessness of a crush.  Despite your gut pointing out the red flags, you mute your own self-awareness in the name of love and possibility. It’s a place I’m sure we’re all too familiar with - who wouldn’t want to lose themselves to the possibility of romantic salvation?

The track lusciously blends 70s folk and country whilst the duo weave intricate harmonies around one another. Lead by acoustic strumming, Fool follows a steady, easygoing drum beat with decorations of organ assisting the harmonies in the chorus. The track feels like it plays on nostalgia, which can be felt in both the stylistic choices and the lyrical theme of the track itself. The dreamy track is reminiscent of listening to your parents old records, whilst the lyrics take you right back to that first gut wrenching crush.

The track as a whole is such a treat to listen to - from the buttery harmonies to the overall catchiness of the vocal melodies. It’s definitely for dancing around the kitchen or having a sobbing sing along to.

Fool is truly the ballad of rose-tinted glasses. It’s a romantic ode to excitement before the storm of reality hits and shakes away the pink hues. We’re all suckers for romance and guilty of ignoring red flags, so Fool feels like a lived experience, as I’m sure it will for many others.
