Sensational - Fallu

Over a year since her last release, Manchester-based musician FALLU makes her scandalous comeback with her latest single, Sensational. The Leeds-born artist successfully combines R&B with a flavoursome pop of psychedelia-inspired melodics to create an alternative and buoyant sound.

The track commences with an uplifting rift of electric guitar initiating a swift reaction of head swaying dreaminess. Soon followed by FALLU’s angelic vocals, the song instantly transports you to a more sanguine and ethereal place. As the bass hits heavier and the drums kick in, a rhythmic sensation erupts, and with the opening lyrics, “The sun is always beaming”, the single that already has you encapsulated in a dreamlike way encourages that high-spirited and reflective state of mind all the more.
As the blissfully captivating tune progresses into the chorus, I can’t help but find myself feeling deeper rooted into a psyche of optimism with a sense of serenity wrapped around me like a comfort blanket. All along whilst dancing and singing to the oh-so-catchy lyrics. “When I get lost and lazy, you’re always there to save me”, is a friendly reminder that you, yourself, are able to help shape your own headspace into a healthier place and for me personally, I find that listening to magically mesmerising music is one of the best medicines for correcting my minds negativing. Thus, making the track all the more valuable. The accompanying music video also sees Fallu joyfully prancing around on her own in a field of gorgeous greenery. To me, signifying the point of how nature can so often help to make a person feel grounded and whole. Once again, invoking signs of inner determination.

With such a mellifluous and uplifting beat portrayed throughout and strong themes of self love behind the significant lyrics alongside an enduring sense of one’s own resilience (which after the pandemic we’ve survived through, can only be seen as an empowering and relatable message), this summer’s single is not only a delightfully soulful treat to the ears but a compassionate prompting that, you got this. It’s quite fitting for the title to be named Sensational as that's just the vibe this song exudes.
