The Bad Egg – Set Me On Fire

Beginning their musical journey as a teen, The Bad Egg grew from the experience of performing in various alternative bands. Eventually finding their feet and going solo, their signature sound is certainly strong.

‘Set Me On Fire’ feels slightly reminiscent to a stripped back Queens of the Stone Age track. The descending doomy guitar riffs and endearing blues-rock vocals create a misty yet captivating atmosphere. The verse’s instrumentation is minimalistic but fills the air seriously well; the song feels thick with texture, escaping the need for flashy riffs to ignite its excitement.

The chorus doesn’t see a drastic increase in instrumentation and could maybe have introduced backing vocals to set itself aside from the rest of the music but still does a decent job of setting itself apart from the verse. The tracks structure is fairly simplistic, however, for the nature of its cool, classic feel, this doesn’t put the track at a disadvantage. The overall production of the track feels very professional too, further increasing the likeability of the music.

As a whole, the track has been composed to a high standard, showing us that if we set the tone of the music right, we don’t need to go over the top with complexed melodies and unnecessary decorations. The Bad Egg’s take on a modern blues-rock track is most certainly a job well done. Check it out below!
